Fan-Out Cable for AD278A PCI MUX 8-Port Adapter

A fan-out cable is an interface between AD278A PCI MUX 8-port adapter and RS-232 peripheral
devices. The fan-out cable has a DB78 connector at one end. This end is connected to the AD278A
PCI MUX 8-port adapter. The other eight ends of the cable have DB25 male connectors. Therefore
an F-F gender changer is required if the device cabling uses male DB-25 connectors.
Figure 1-5 shows AD278A PCI MUX 8-port adapter fan-out cable.

The RJ-45 to DB-25 adapter cables can be built and used to connect the fan out cable ports to
various peripheral devices.

Power Supply for Port Modules

The first and second port modules connected to a AD279A PCI MUX 64-port adapter do not
require power supply. However, the third and fourth port modules require seperate power
supply. The power supply requires 110-220 V and 50-60 W AC input.
Figure 1-6 shows the external power supply (AD280-2001A) for the port modules.
