System Firmware Update Instructions For BDP-160 (USB Update)
NOTE: If you have any difficulty carrying out these instructions, please first refer to the System
Firmware Update FAQ included in this document and/or contact Pioneer Customer Support Center.
A. Check the current firmware version of the player:
Using the player's remote control:
1. Press the "STANDBY/ON" button to switch the unit on.
Note: If the player starts to play a disc, press the "STOP" button and wait until the Pioneer
logo is displayed on your TV.
2. Press the "HOME MENU" button to display the "Home Menu".
3. Select "Initial Setup" and press the "ENTER" button.
4. Select "Options" and press the "ENTER" button.
5. Select "System information" and press the "ENTER" button.
6. Select "Next Screen" and press the "ENTER" button
7. The firmware version of your player will be displayed on the TV screen.
If the version number is V01.06 or higher, it is not necessary to update the firmware. If the version
number is lower than V01.06, it is necessary to update the firmware. Please continue to Step B.
B. Download the firmware ZIP file from Pioneer's website:
Download the file named "BDP-160_V01.06.zip" from the website to a folder on your computer.
C. Create the System Firmware Update USB memory device:
USB memory device requirements:
- USB specification 2.0
- 128 MB or more in capacity
- Should be blank (should not contain any files)
PROCEDURE:
1. Connect the USB memory device to your computer..
2. Double click the ZIP file named "BDP-160_V01.06.zip" to open it.
3. Extract and save the files named "BDP-160_V01.06.bin", "DLdiscidentifier.txt" and
"DVD.bin" to a folder on your computer
4. Copy all the files to your USB memory device
5. Confirm that the file names and file sizes are correct on the USB memory device. To check
the file size in Microsoft Windows, select the file, press the right mouse button, and select
"Properties". If the file name and size do not match the ones listed below, perform steps B
and C again.
