Instructions for rack installation
CAUTION
•
When installing the ETERNUS DX60/DX80
Do Not
with other devices into the same rack, the air-
flow of the device installed on and under the
ETERNUS DX60/DX80 may interfere each
other and have a damaging effect on device
cooling. Make sure to leave plenty of room
between the devices if required. Failure to do
so may damage the ETERNUS DX60/DX80.

Especially for an enclosed rack with doors, or

running, it's important to realize that the tem-
perature inside the cabinet will be consider-

Consideration for clear air circulation should
be given to prevent the rack internal ambient
temperature from exceeding 40ºC. Failure to
do so, it may lead to damage the ETERNUS
DX60/DX80.

The ETERNUS DX60/DX80 weighs 35kg.

When carrying the ETERNUS DX60/DX80,
two or more people should work together and
hold both sides and the bottom of the device.
Failing to do so may result in injury.

Be sure not to catch your fingers in the rack
when installing the ETERNUS DX60/DX80.
Doing so may result in injury.

When installing the ETERNUS DX60/DX80
into the rack, make sure to install from the bot-
tom to the top of the rack. If the bottom of the
rack is empty and the rack becomes unstable
it could both damage the ETERNUS DX60/
DX80 and cause injuries.
•
Install the blank panels provided with the rack
where no other devices are installed.

Handling cables
•
Do not damage or modify the power cable or

on them. Doing so will damage the cable and

Be careful not to bend or pinch the cable.

Before connecting cables, confirm that the
connectors are clean and free of dust, oil, and
grease, etc. Not doing so may lead to mal-
function.
•
Keep a 30mm or larger radius when bending
the Fibre Channel cable. Bending or pinching
the cable will damage the cable and lead to
the ETERNUS DX60/DX80 malfunction.
