SYMBOLS USED FOR SYNTAX DESCRIPTION
The following symbols are used to describe program
syntax in this manual:

Items enclosed by [] can be omitted. The default
operation varies according to the instruction.
See the explanation of each instruction.
U
Items enclosed by {} can be either omitted or
repeated more than once.
Items enclosed by <> can be defined within the
prescribed range but cannot be omitted.
<>
I
One of the items placed on the left and the right
of vertical bar, |, must be selected. The range
to be selected is underlined if it is not clear.
Characters and symbols
Characters and symbols other than above that appear in
general descriptions must be written as they appeared,
because they have special meanings.
