DVD player unit
Symptom
Playback w ill not start even after a title is
selected.
The view ing restriction level (RATING) can-
not be changed.
The voice or subtitle language selected in
the initial setting is not played.
No message appears on the TV screen after
a key is pressed.
M enu screen messages are not show n in the
desired language.
Remote control unit
Symptom
Remote control operation is not possible.

The inhibition icon is displayed
and remote control is not pos-
sible.

Cause
÷ A view ing restriction (RATING) has been set for
the disc.
÷ You have forgotten the view ing restriction (RAT-
ING) passw ord.
÷ The DVD disc being played does not contain the
recording of the selected voice or subtitle lan-
guage.
÷ The function for displaying message on the TV
screen (On-Screen M essages) is set to off.
÷ The menu language function (M ENU) is not set.
Cause
÷ Batteries are exhausted.
÷ The remote control is too far aw ay from the
system, the controlling angle is deviated or
there is an obstacle in betw een.
Cause
÷ Playback is restricted intentionally by the soft-
w are producer.

Remedy
÷ Check the view ing restriction level (RATING)
setting.
÷ Set the initial setup to the factory setup w ith
the follow ing procedure.
1 In POWER ON condition, keep the 7 (STOP) key and the ¡
(Search) key pressed at the same time.
2 When both keys are pressed, the region code of the unit, the
softw are version, etc. w ill be displayed on the display. (When
nothing is done, the display of this information continues.)
3 Press the ON/ OFF key to go to Pow er OFF.
4 When Pow er ON is performed w ith the ON/ OFF key, the
settings become the default factory settings.
÷ Use a DVD disc containing the recording of
the selected voice or subtitle language.
÷ Set On-Screen M essages to on.
÷ Set the disc menu language function (M ENU)
as required.
Remedy
÷ Replace w ith new batteries.
÷ Operate the unit inside the remote control-
lable range.
Remedy
÷ The operation is inhibited. Please try an-
other operation.
