Outboard Rigging Guide - 2001

WARNING FUNCTIONS

This dual station control system has a shift dis-
engagement failure warning and a shift
engagement failure warning functions.
Buzzer on the remote control box or the switch
panel warns of the failure.
1.

Shift disengagement failure warning.

In case shifting into neutral has become impos-
sible during running.
The buzzer should sound.
Engine should be slowed.
The outboard will not shift though the
remote control levers can be moved.
NOTE:
No visual warning is provided.
The following are possible causes of the shift-
ing failure.
A wire disconnection in the power source
of the actuator or the reduction of the actu-
ator operating voltage.
Failure of sensors on the actuator or in the
junction unit, or wire disconnection in
those components.
Failure of actuator or its related compo-
nents.
NOTE:
As long as the battery is able to energize
the outboard, it is able to power the shift
motor.
Twin engine installation is equipped with a
specific shift disengagement failure warn-
ing system.
At this time, the actuator operates to return
the shift to neutral and stop the shifting
motor automatically.
