For Mac OS 8.6 - 9.2 Users
Before you try to use the Brother print server, you must first enable the AppleTalk protocol from the
Network Control Panel on the Macintosh. Refer to "Setting up AppleTalk" in "Mac Help" on your
Macintosh.

For Mac OS X 10.1 - 10.2 Users
How to set AppleTalk active

Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.

Click Network.

Make sure that AppleTalk is chosen in the Show pop-up menu for the desired network interface.

Click the AppleTalk tab.

Verify that the check box for "Make AppleTalk Active is selected.". If it is not, click to select it and
then click Apple Now.

Operation

Once the print server is installed and the printer is powered on, the print server AppleTalk service name
(default is BRN_xxxxxx_P1_AT, where "xxxxxx" is the last six digits of the Ethernet address (MAC
address)) should appear in the Chooser.
You can find the service name and MAC address by printing out the printer settings page. Refer to
printer Quick Setup Guide for printing the printer settings page.

How to Select the Print Server (AppleTalk)

Open the Chooser from the Apple Menu on the Macintosh.

Click the AdobePS icon and then select BRA_xxxx_P1_AT. (xxxxxx are the last six digits of the
Ethernet address.).

Close the Chooser program. You should now be able to print from the Macintosh.
