Overview

This application guide outlines the requirements and procedure to connect SITRANS RD500
and Siemens MultiRanger via an RS-485 MODBUS connection.
The SITRANS RD500 is a remote data manager providing integrated web access, alarm event
handling, and data capture for instrumentation. Siemens MultiRanger is a versatile short- to
medium-range ultrasonic single and multi-vessel level monitor/controller. Process values from
MultiRanger (such as level, volume, flow, totalization and pumping statistics) can be logged
in SITRANS RD500.
This application guide describes how to:
1. Connect SITRANS RD500 to MultiRanger,
2. Set up a data log in the RD500 to record information from the MultiRanger, and
3. Configure SITRANS RD500 to read MODBUS registers from MultiRanger.
This application guide is an addition to the Operating Instructions. Please review the
operating instructions for the RD500 application, and RD500 hardware to ensure you are
familiar with configuring the SITRANS RD500.
