CHECKING THE SIGNALING SYSTEM

1. The turn signal light, turn signal indicator
light or both fail to blink.
1. Turn signal indicator light bulb and socket
S Check the turn signal light bulb and socket
for continuity.
Refer to "CHECKING THE BULBS AND
BULB SOCKETS"
S Are the turn signal light bulb and socket OK?
YES
2. Turn signal switch
S Check the turn signal switch for continuity.
Refer to "CHECKING THE SWITCHES".
S Is the turn signal switch OK?
YES
3. Hazard switch
S Check the hazard switch for continuity.
Refer to "CHECKING THE SWITCHES".
S Is the hazard switch OK?
YES
4. Voltage
S Connect the pocket tester (DC 20 V) to the
turn signal relay coupler (wire harness side)
as shown.
Positive tester probe ! brown
Negative tester probe ! ground
NO
Replace the turn sig-
nal light bulb, socket
or both.
NO
Replace the left han-
dlebar switch.
NO
Replace the left han-
dlebar switch.

SIGNALING SYSTEM
S Set the main switch to "ON".
S Measure the voltage (DC 12 V) on brown
at the turn signal relay coupler (wire harness
side).
S Is the voltage within specification?
5. Voltage
S Connect the pocket tester (DC 20 V) to the
turn signal relay coupler (wire harness side)
as shown.
Positive tester probe ! brown/white
Negative tester probe ! ground
S Set the main switch to "ON".
S Measure the voltage (DC 12 V) on
brown/white
pler (wire harness side).
S Is the voltage within specification?
6. Voltage
S Connect the pocket tester (DC 20 V) to the
turn signal light connector or meter assem-
bly coupler (wire harness side) as shown.
