Remove the center cover.

Open the display all the way (180 degrees) so that it lies flat

Press down the

slot on the front edge of the center cover. Press down the
and keys to locate the right release slot.
To protect the keyboard, place a flexible straightedge (such as the

ruler in the illustration) across the rows of keys directly in front of
the center cover, touching the front edge of the center cover.
Press down on the straightedge to reveal the left release slot, insert
d
the plastic scribe into the slot, and use the straightedge as a brace
to pry the center cover up as shown. The left side of the cover
should pop up; the entire cover may pop out at this point.
Repeat for the right release slot if necessary.

Lift the center cover away and lay it aside.
