14 Operation principle and hardware description
• The unit operates independently and does not require any external control system.
• The unit provides interfaces to external control systems for monitoring,
interlocking/triggering and configuration purposes.
Overview diagram of the drive system
This diagram shows an example multidrive. The supply unit connects the drive to the AC
supply network, and converts the voltage to DC. The DC bus distributes DC voltage to the
inverter units and other units that are optionally included in the delivery, such as a
semiconductor switch unit.
