Problem
All memory in the computer is
being used by open programs, and
memory is needed for a desired
task.
Problem
Line voltage selection switch is not
in the proper position for your
region (115V/230V).
Wall outlet is defective.
Software being used is not
Microsoft-certified for your version
of Windows.
Solution
To avoid Windows running
unnecessary programs automatically
at startup:
1. From the Windows desktop,
click the Start button.
2. Select Run.
3. In the Open box, type
MSCONFIG.
4. Click OK. The System
Configuration Utility dialog
box is displayed.
5. Click the Startup tab, and clear
the check box(es) for any
unnecessary programs.
6. Close one or more programs,
and restart Windows to recover
memory. If the error message is
displayed again, repeat the
preceding steps and close one
or more programs.
Solution
Set the line voltage selection switch
to the correct setting for your region,
or call Compaq Technical Support for
assistance. Refer to your Certificate
of Warranty for details.
Test the outlet by connecting a
different electrical device to
the outlet.
Verify that the software is certified by
Microsoft for your version of Windows
(see program packaging for this
information).
