1. Screen and Focus Adjustment
A. Enter service menu
B. Choose service (this brings up red, green, and blue horizontal lines).
C. Turn screen controls clockwise so that retrace lines begin to appear for red, green and blue.
D. Adjust red, green and blue focus controls for best focused lines
E. Exit service menu and return to normal
2. Convergence Adjustment
A. Press Magic Focus to begin process. Press Magic Focus again during process to get to STOP screen
B. Press INFO control on remote control to bring up service grid (64 points)
"0" - Red
"ANT" - Blue
"INFO" - Green
Note: Use remote control keys 4,6,2,5 to move around grid
Note: Do not adjust green, use it as a guide to adjust Red and Blue
Note: Start from the center and work toward the outside edges
NOTE:
Coarse (3 x 3 dot pattern) access by pressing "INFO" key 5 times
Medium (7 x 5 dot pattern) access by pressing "0" key 5 times
Fine (13 x 9 dot pattern) access by pressing "ANT" key 5 times
C. Start alignment with coarse then move to medium then move to fine
D. When convergence is acceptable, press PIP MODE key to write displayed data to memory.
E. ROM WRITE? Is displayed. Press PIP MODE, again, to write data to memory.
F. Writing to memory will take 4-5 seconds. Green dots will be displayed when this is finished.
G. Press "MUTE" key to return to convergence pattern.
H. Press "PIP MODE" key,again, immediately followed by pressing the "SURF" key. This initializes sensor positions.
I. Turn power off for a few seconds and then back on. Convergence is complete and Magic Focus button should work.
3. Setting Gray Scale (White Level) Adjustment
Grey scale is used to calibrate black and white in the picture. Color decoding, is separate process placing color on the black and white picture
A. Using menu, set temperature to "MEDIUM" across all inputs (ANT,Video 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
Using the menu, set Contrast (35), Brightness (40), Color (50 and Tint (mid range) for all inputs.
B. Use AVIA 30IRE (low light) window field pattern.
Adjust the red,green, and blue "CUTS", R-CUT-M/G-CUT-M/B-CUT-M, to eliminate any color in this pattern
C. Use AVIA 90IRE (high light) window field pattern.
Adjust the red and green "DRIVE", R-DRV-M/G-DRV-M to eliminate any color in this pattern
D. Repeat steps B & C two or three times until no adjustment is needed.
E. Use settings in steps B, and input the exact same settings in "CUTS" used for High, Standard and Black/White temperature.
NOTE: Facial tones look pink/purple reduce BLUE cut and drive. .
Facial tones look orange/yellow increase Blue cut and drive
4. Sub Brightness Adjustment
When this test is selected, contrast and color are automatically set to minimum.
A. Use AVIA Color Bar Signal
B. Make sure moving bars, both white and black, are just visible.
C. Also check that CY and G color bars rise slightly from black.
5. Color Decoder Adjustment
The R/B and G/B Gain (saturation) have the most affect on this adjustment. RY and GY Phase (hue) have little impact.
Enter service menu and go to ISF menu.
R/B and G/B Gain Adjustment
STEP 1 - Receive HDTV signal. Set color temperature to "High".
A. Use RBGTOUTO to set individual color screens.
B. Using AVIA disk. Pull up the COLOR DECODER PATTERN(flashing color bars).
C. Set RBGOUTO to 01(red) and adjust R/B-GA3EH until the 0% block matches the background.
Note: Option is to use red AVIA filter with flashing color bars
D. Set RBGOUTO to 02(green) and adjust G/B-GA3EH until the 0% block matches the background.
Note: Option is to use green AVIA filter with flashing color bars

Note: Option is to use green AVIA filter with flashing color bars
STEP 1 - Receive HDTV signal. Set color temperature to "Standard".
A. Use RBGTOUTO to set individual color screens.
B. Using AVIA disk. Pull up the COLOR DECODER PATTERN(flashing color bars).
C. Set RBGOUTO to 01(red) and adjust R/B-GA3ES until the 0% block matches the background.
Note: Option is to use red AVIA filter with flashing color bars
D. Set RBGOUTO to 02(green) and adjust G/B-GA3ES until the 0% block matches the background.
Note: Option is to use green AVIA filter with flashing color bars
STEP 2 - Receive SDTV (regular digital channel) signal and set color temperature to "High".
A. Use RBGTOUTO to set individual color screens.
