IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
12. POWER-CORD PROTECTION
Powe r-supply cords should be route d so tha t they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by item s placed upon
or a ga inst the m , paying pa rticula r a tte ntion to cords at plugs, conve nience re ceptacle s, and the point where they
exit from the a pplia nce.
13. LIGHTNING
To prote ct your unit from a lightning storm , or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of tim e,
unplug it from the wa ll outle t a nd disconne ct the antenna or cable system . T his will prevent dam age to the unit
due to lightning a nd powe r line surge s.
14. POWER LINES
An outside a ntenna syste m should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other ele ctric light or
powe r circuits, or where it ca n fa ll into such powe r lines or circuits. W hen installing an outside antenna system ,
extre m e ca re should be ta ke n to ke ep from touching such power lines or circuits, as contact with them m ight be
fata l.
15. OVERLOADING
D o not ove rloa d wa ll outle ts a nd exte nsion cords, as this can result in a risk of fire or ele ctric shock.
16. OBJECT AND LIQUID ENTRY
D o not push obje cts through a ny ope nings in this unit, as they m ay touch dangerous voltage points or short out
pa rts tha t could re sult in fire or e le ctric shock. N eve r spill or spray any type of liquid into the unit.
17. OUTDOOR ANTENNA GROUNDING
If a n outside ante nna or ca ble syste m is connected to the unit, be sure the antenna or cable system is grounded
so a s to provide som e prote ction a ga inst voltage surges and built-up static charges, S ection 810 of the N ational
E le ctrical C ode, AN S I/N F PA 7 0 , provide s inform ation with respect to proper grounding of the m ast and support-
ing structure, grounding of the le a d-in wire to an antenna discha rge unit, size of grounding conductors, location
of a nte nna discharge unit, conne ction to grounding electrodes, and requirem ents for the grounding electrode.
18. SERVICING
D o not a ttem pt to service this unit yourse lf a s opening or re m oving covers m ay expose you to dangerous voltage
or othe r ha za rds. R e fe r a ll se rvicing to qua lified service personnel.
19. DAMAGE REQUIRING SERVICE
U nplug this unit from the wa ll outle t a nd re fe r servicing to qualified service personnel under the following
conditions:
a . W he n the powe r-supply cord or plug is dam aged.
b. If liquid has be e n spilled, or obje cts have falle n into the unit.
c. If the unit ha s be e n exposed to ra in or water.
d. If the unit doe s not ope ra te norm a lly by following the operating instructions. Adjust only those controls
tha t a re cove re d by the ope ra ting instructions, as an im proper adjustm ent of other controls m ay result in
da m a ge and will ofte n re quire extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the unit to its norm al
ope ra tion.
e. If the unit ha s be e n droppe d or the cabinet has been da m aged.
f. W he n the unit exhibits a distinct cha nge in perform ance, this indicates a ne ed for service.
20. REPLACEMENT PARTS
W he n re pla cem ent pa rts are re quired, be sure the service technician use s replacem ent pa rts specified by the
m a nufa cture r or those tha t have the sa m e characteristics a s the original part.
U na uthorized substitutions m ay re sult in fire, electric shock or other hazards.
