Trouble shooting

Problem
Engine does not
start
Insufficient power
Engine stops during
operation
Engine is difficult to
stop

TROUBLE SHOOTING
Possible causes
Electrode spark plug is wet or
fouled
Cracked spark plug insulator
Engine flooded
Incorrect or stale fuel
No fuel in tank
Clogged air cleaner
Fuel line/passage clogged
Carbon build up in muffler
Use incorrect or stale fuel
Piston seizure
Machine is overworked
Switch is bumped
Shorting of spark plug
Piston scored
Fuel tank is empty
Carburetor or fuel tank clogged
Stop wire disconnected from the
switch
Overheated engine
Loose engine and/or pump
mounts
Leak at the tube connections
There is no water in the pump
chamber.
The suction hose is damaged.
The strainer is above the water
surface.
Remedy
Clean or replace the spark plug
Replace the spark plug
Crank engine with choke open and full throttle to
clear excess fuel
Drain and replace with correct fuel/oil mixture
Refuel with correct fuel/oil mixture
Clean and lubricate air cleaner
Contact Service Centre or see authorized dealer
Contact Service Centre or see authorized dealer
Drain and replace with correct fuel/oil mixture
Contact Service Centre or see authorized dealer
Operate properly - do not overload
Restart the engine
Clean spark plug or replace
Contact Service Centre or see authorized dealer
Refuel with correct fuel/oil mixture

Attach stop wire to switch
Contact service Centre or see authorized dealer
Retighten engine and/or pump mount screws
Retighten the hose clip or replace if damaged
Fill water to the lower surface of the discharge
outlet
Replace the suction hose.
Put the strainer fully into water.
