Connecting
Power supply
The device is designed for operation with a directly connectable safety extra low voltage
(SELV) from a limited power source (LPS).
The power supply therefore needs to meet at least one of the following conditions:
• Only safety extra low voltage (SELV) with limited power source (LPS) complying with IEC
If the equipment is connected to a redundant power supply (two separate power supplies),
both must meet these requirements.
Terminal
Read the system manual "S7-1500 Automation System"
Prior to installation, connecting up and commissioning, read the relevant sections in the
system manual "S7-1500 Automation System", see Preface (Page 3), Documentation guide.
Power supply off
Make sure that the power supply is turned off when connecting the devices.
Procedure
1. Connect the communications module to Industrial Ethernet via the RJ45 jack (lower side of
the device).
Note
Connecting a switch
To connect a switch that does not support autocrossing, use a crossover cable.
For the pin assignment of the Ethernet interface, see section Terminal assignment
(Page 55).
2. Switch on the power supply of the S7 station.
3. Close the front covers of the modules.
During operation, keep the hinged front panel closed.
