Safety Information

• 
  Children frequently underestimate the dangers. Childrens hould be kept away from the product at all times.
• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
• Do not use the device if it is damaged. Damaged devices represent a danger of death from electric shock!
• Do not expose the device to
  • extreme temperatures,
  • strong vibrations,
  • strong mechanical stresses,
  • direct sunlight,
  • moisture.

Otherwise the device may be damaged.

• Please note that the guarantee does not cover damage caused by incorrect handling, non-compliance with the operating instructions or interference with the device by unauthorised individuals.
• Under no circumstances should you take the device apart. Improper repairs may place the user in considerable danger. Repairs should only be carried out by specialist personnel.
• Please keep the product clean.
• Please fill the salt and pepper mill only with peppercorns or coarse salt.
• 
  FOOD SAFE! This product does not affect the taste and aroma properties of foodstuffs.
• Switch off the appliance before changing accessories or approaching parts that move in use.
• Be careful when touching the sharp blades of the grinding mechanism and when emptying and cleaning the device.

Safety instructions for batteries

DANGER TO LIFE!
Batteries can be swallowed, which may represent a danger to life. If a battery has been swallowed, medical help is required immediately.

• Remove the batteries from the device if they are not going to be used for a prolonged period.
• 
  DANGER OF EXPLOSION!
  The batteries must never be recharged!
  
• When inserting the batteries, ensure the correct polarity! Damage to the device could result! The correct polarity is shown inside the battery compartment !
• If necessary, clean the batteries and device contacts before inserting the batteries.
• Remove spent batteries immediately from the device. There is an increased danger of leaks! Damage to the device could result!
• Batteries must not be disposed of in the normal domestic waste!
• Every consumer is legally obliged to dispose of batteries in the proper manner!
• 
  DANGER OF EXPLOSION!
  Keep batteries a way from children; do not throw them in the fire, short-circuit them or take them apart.
  
• If the above instructions are not complied with, the batteries may discharge themselves beyond their end voltage. There is then a danger of leaking. If the batteries have leaked inside your device, you should remove them immediately in order to prevent damage to the device!
• 
  RISK OF INJURY!
  Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and mucous membranes. Any parts of the body coming into contact with battery acid should be rinsed off with copious\ amounts of water and / or a doctor contacted if necessary!

Use

Insert Batteries / Filling of the salt and pepper mill

Indication: The salt and pepper mill is intended for peppercorns or coarse salt.

Proceed as follows:

1. Hold the base with container still and turn the top part anticlockwise until the arrow on the top part points to the arrow above the symbol on the base with container .
2. Now pull the top part off the base with container .
3. Pull the container cover off the base with container .
4. Fill the base with container with peppercorns or coarse salt. The best results are obtained when you fill the base with container up to the maximum level mark.
5. Place the container cover back onto the base with container .
6. Insert 6 new AAA 1.5 V batteries.
   Note: Ensure correct polarity. This is indicated in the battery compartment .
7. Place the top part back onto the base with container .
8. Hold the base with container still and tighten the top part clockwise until the arrow on the top part points to the arrow above the symbol on the base with container .

Using of the salt and pepper mill

• Pull off the aroma seal cover from the bottom of the base with container before use.
• Please keep the button pushed to activate the salt and pepper mill. At the same time, the LED light underneath the salt / pepper mill is activated.
  

Note: Use the mill only when the container is full and do not leave the mill switched on uninterrupted for longer than 1 minute so that it does not overheat. After using the mill for one minute, let it cool down for at least 3 minutes before switching it on again.

Adjusting the grinding level

• Turn the adjustable screw clockwise to receive a finer grinding level.
  
• Turn the adjustable screw anticlockwise to receive a coarser grinding level.
  Note: Choose a coarser setting if the grinding mechanism stops rotating when you are using a very fine setting. If the grinding mechanism still refuses to rotate, then it may be choked or blocked. Unscrew the adjustable screw and loosen the grinding mechanism.
  Release the stuck pieces by shaking the grinding mechanism, then tighten the adjustable screw again.

Cleaning and maintenance

• Under no circumstances should you use liquids or detergents, as these will damage the device.
• The device should only be cleaned on the outside with a soft dry cloth.
