Replacing the front audio and USB assembly

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
1 "Read this first: Important safety information" on page 1.
To replace the front audio and USB assembly, do the following:
1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 82.
3. Remove any parts that might prevent your access to the storage drive bracket. Depending on your
computer model, you might have to remove the optical drive or the storage drive in the optical drive bay.
See "Replacing the optical drive" on page 82 or "Replacing the storage drive" on page 85.
4. Remove the front bezel. See "Replacing the front bezel" on page 84.
5. Remove the storage drive bracket. See "Replacing the storage drive" on page 85.
6. Remove the card reader. See "Replacing the card reader" on page 90.
7. Locate the front audio and USB assembly. See "Computer components" on page 31.
8. Disconnect the front audio and USB assembly cables from the system board. See "Parts on the
system board" on page 34.
9. Remove the screw that secures the front audio and USB assembly, and then remove the front audio
and USB assembly from the chassis as shown.
