Ve_tilation
The slots and openings in the cabinet and in the
back or bottom are provided for necessary
venLflaaon. To ensure reliable operation of the set,
and to protecl it from overbeaBng, these slots and
openings must never be blocked or covered.
Never cover the slots and openings with a
cloth or other materials

Never block lbe slols and openings by
placing the set on a bed, sota, rug or other
similar surtace
Never place lhe set in a confined space, such
as a bookcase, or builMn cabinet, unless
proper venBlation is provided.
Do not place lbe set near or over a radiator
or heal register, or where it is exposed to direct sunlight.
Power Cold Protection
Do not allow anything to rest on or roll over [be If¢--'F]] ]
power cord, and do nol place the set where the
power cord is subjecl {o wear or abuse.
If an outdoor antenna is installed, follow the precautions below. An
outdoor antenna system should not be localed in lhe vicinily of
overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits, or
where it can come in contact with such power lines or circuits.
WHEN INSTALLING AN OUTDOOR ANTENNA SYSTEM,
EXTREME CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO KEEP FROM
CONTACTING SUCH POWER LINES OR CIRCUITS AS
CONTACT WITIt THEM IS ALMOST INVARIABLY FATAL.
Be sure lhe antenna system is grounded so as to provide some
prolection against voltage surges and buiR-up static charges.
Section 810 of the National Electrical Code (NEC) in USA and
Section 54 of the Canadian Electrical Code in Canada provide
information with re,pc, or lo proper grounding of the mast and
supporting sfructure, grounding of lhe leadan wire lo an antenna
discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna
discharge unit, connection lo grounding electrodes, and

Lightning
For added protection for tbis television receiver during a lightning
storm, or when n is left unattended and unused for long periods of
time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna.
]his will prevent damage to the receiver due to lightning and
power line surges.
Service
Damage Requiring Service
Unplug the set h'om the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualiIied
service personnel under the tollowing condnions:
When the power cord or plug
is damaged or frayed.

When replacement parts are required, be sure the
service technician certifies in writing that he has
used replacement parts specified by the
manufacturer that have the same cheracterisBcs as
the original parts¸
Unauthorized substitutions may result in fire, electric shock or

Upon completion of any service or repairs to tee
set, ask the service technician lo perform routine

determine lhat the set is in safe operating
