• If tape is inserted in the VIDEO mode
(Only during Hi 8/8 playback);

If "FB MODE AUTO" is specified from the
menu screen, "AUTO SENSING" will flash in
the viewfinder or on the LCD monitor, and the
camcorder will start to detect the inserted tape.
Note: While "AUTO SENSING" is flashing, the cam
corder will not accept any operations other than
EJECT and POWER OFF,
Note: The display that appears in the viewfinder
or on the LCD monitor during playback will differ
as follows, depending on the tape and function
used:

TAPE+
TAPE+ is an upgrade recording function equiva¬
lent to Hi8 on a standard 8 mm tape. TAPE+ is
mounted in Hitachi VM-H765LA / VM-H665LA
camcorders.
'J Open the LCD monitor, and then adjust the
angle of the monitor ("Opening the LCD
Monitor", p!4).
p Hold down the small button on the CAM/OFF/
VIDEO switch while sliding the switch to VIDEO.
■ ' 5 Press the REW button to rewind the tape.
For fast forwarding the tape, press FF.
Press the PLAY button and play back the tape.
To
adjust
the
volume,
press
the
FOCUS/ VOL.controI buttons. When either but
FOCUS/VOL. Control, Buttons
ton is pressed,the volume adjustment display
will appear on the LCD monitor for about 5 sec
onds. Press A to increase the volume, or press
W to decrease it. After 5 seconds, the adjustment
display will automatically disappear.

5 Press the STOP button when you have finished.
Note: Decrease the sound volume of the cam¬
corder when you piay back a recording by con¬
necting the camcorder to your TV. If the volume
of the camcorder is set to maximum, the played
back picture may be distorted, Make sure that
the volume is not set to maximum during recording
as it could distort the played back picture,
Note: When the LCD monitor is turned on and
left as it is, the monitor becomes warm, but this
does not indicate a fault.
Note: When the CAM/OFF/VIDEO switch Is set
to CAM or VIDEO, the LCD monitor is turned on
and off automatically when the LCD monitor is
opened and dosed.
Note: It is recommended that you dose the LCD
monitor to save the battery power when playing
back a picture on a TV' without viewing it.
Note: Only the playback sound is heard, The
sound being recorded is not heard,
Note: No sound is heard when the LCD monitor
is dosed.
Note: If there is a no-signal recorded portion in
the middle of the tape, or if the Hi8 recorded
portion and Digital 8 recorded portion are
mixed on tape, the linear time counter may not
operate correctly.
# To Play Back a Tape with the
Viewfinder
Close the LCD monitor, then press the PLAY but¬
ton to play back the tape. The picture appears in
the viewfinder.
Note: You cannot hear the playback sound
when playing back your video with the
viewfinder.
