Controlling the MIDI Reen
Before beginning any MIDI operations, be sure to stop the
Rhythm first.
A) With the Power on
@ The receiving channel is set to CH
1. However,
any
channel can be received with OMNI
ON.
(When the
power is switched ON, the OMNI
ON Mode is auto-
matically assumed.)
@ Program change is acceptable. (Condition for sending
and receiving voice number.)
@ The Control Change is the state for sending and receiving
control
signals
for
the
DAMPER
and
SOFT/
SOSTENUTO.
@ MIDI clock is INTERNAL.
B) Setting transmission channel number:
While pressing the MIDI MODE
button, press one of the
keys between C; and РЁ, to set the channel number (see
illustration below).

C) Switching
to OMNI
OFF
and setting reception
channel:
While pressing the MIDI MODE button, press the PIANO 1
button and switch to OMNI OFF. If the button is pressed
again, the OMNI ON Mode will be resumed. Next, while
pressing the MIDI MODE
button, press one of the keys
between C3 and D*4to set the channel number (see Ilustra-
tion below).
D) Switching to LOCAL OFF: -
While pressing the MIDI MODE button, press the PIANO 2
button. If the button is pressed again, it will be turned ON.
NOTE: When either PIANO ABC or MANUAL BASS is set to ON, only
the upper part of the keyboard (above the key-split point) will
assume Local OFF status and its lower part (below the key-split
point) will remain in Local ON status.
E) Cancelling Program Change (To cancel the trans-
mission of the information to change the voice):
While pressing the MIDI MODE button, press the PIANO
3 button. If the button is pressed again, it will be activated.
F) Cancelling Control Change (To cancel the transmis-
sion of control for DAMPER
and SOFT/SOS-
TENUTO):
While pressing the MIDI MODE button, press the PIANO
4 (HARPSICHORD
for CVP-6) button.
If the button is
pressed again, it will be activated.
G) Switching to EXTERNAL MIDI clock:
While pressing the MIDI
MODE
button, press either the
HARPSICHORD 1 button (for CVP-10+8) or the VIBES
button (for CVP-6). If the same button is pressed again, the
INTERNAL
Mode will be restored.
H) DATA DUMP (CVP-10/8
only)
This
function
lets you
transfer
data
recorded
in the
Clavinova PERFORMANCE MEMORY and SEQUENCER
MEMORY
to the memory of a different Clavinova unit.
€ While
presing
the
MIDI
Mode
button,
press
the
HARPSICHORD 2 button, and the memory contents of
both units will become identical.

First connect the two units together as shown, then carry
out the Data Dump procedure. The memory contents of the
A unit will be copied to the B unit.
NOTE: Only connect the same models.
I) MIDI Split Send Mode
To enter MIDI
Split Send
mode,
press the CELESTA
button (the GUITAR
button for CVP-6) while depressing
the MIDI MODE button. While PIANO ABC or MANUAL
BASS is ON, the Key ON data for the upper keys above
the key-split point will be transmitted
via CH
1 (this
channel number, however, can be changed as described in
Item B) above), and the Key ON data for the lower keys
below the key-split point will be transmitted via CH 2 (fixed
channel number).
