1. Important points

Before asking for repairs

Slight differences in operation can sometimes be mistaken for mulfunctions, so check the
following table before requesting any repairs.
If the following fail to solve the problem, contact your local retailer.
Symptom
The map does not move even
when driving.
The
vehicle position mark does
not appear.
The GPS mark does not appear.
Voice guidance not outputted.
There are small blemishes or
luminescent spots on the monitor
screen.
An irregular display appears on the
screen for a moment after turning
the engine switch ON.
The screen is difficult to view.
The
vehicle position mark
appears on a spot different from
the present location. (The
vehicle position mark is
misaligned.)
There is distortion or noise on the
map screen

Possible reason
Is the display showing a screen
other than the present location
screen?
Is the display showing a screen
other than the present location
screen?
Is the device in a situation where
GPS data cannot be utilized?
Is the "auto voice guidance" set to
OFF
?
Is the guidance paused?
Is the guidance volume turned
down (voice OFF)?
This phenomenon is characteristic
of liquid crystal panels.The liquid
crystal panel is made with high-
tech precision and has 99.99% or
more effective imaging. However,
there may be 0.01% image loss or
lights continuously turned on.
In cold weather, the liquid crystal
panel's backlight features may emit
light unevenly.
Are the contrast and brightness
correctly adjusted?
The
vehicle position mark may
be misaligned depending on
satellite conditions or vehicle status
(road conditions and driving style).
Also, the
vehicle position mark
may be misaligned if driving on a
newly constructed road or on a
road with a shape different to that
recorded in the map data.
Is a device that generates electrical
interference being used near the
unit?
Example of devices that emit high
voltage:
Ionizers
Example of devices that emit
electrical noise:
Cell phones or other wireless
devices
Corrective action
Display the present location
screen. (See page 33)
Display the present location

Move the vehicle to an area free of
obstructions or remove any objects
placed on the GPS antenna.
ON
Touch
for "auto voice
guidance" in setup.
If the route guidance is paused,
resume guidance. (See page 118)
Turn up the volume. (See page 29)
This is not a defect, so please use
the deck in this condition.
This condition will correct itself in a
few minutes as the backlight
warms up.
Adjust the contrast and brightness.

Continue driving and the present
location will be automatically
corrected using map matching and
GPS data. (In some cases, this
may take several minutes.) If GPS
data is not used and the present
location is not automatically
corrected, stop the vehicle in a safe
area and correct the present
location. (See page 181)
Keep such devices as far away as
possible from the unit. If a device
continues to cause interference,
refrain from using it.
