You can quickly locate a particular point on a
disc by monitoring the picture or playing back
slowly.
With cover opened.
• Depending on the DVD,'VIDEO CD, you may not be
able to do some of the opeiations described•
Locating a point quickly by
playing a disc in fast forward
or fast reverse (Scan)
(except for JPEG)
Press -'ql _1_ or _ m_ while playing a disc•
When you find the point you want, press _ to
return to normal speed• Each time you press 41
_1_ or _ D_- during scan, the playback speed
changes• With each press the indication changes
as shown below. Actual speeds may differ with
some discs•

The "x 21_"i"x 241" playback speed is about
twice the normal speed• The "31_-"/"3"_1"
playback speed is taster than the "21_-"
"2"_'ql" and the "21_-"i"2"_'ql" playback speed
is baster than "11_-" "l'_'ql."
Watching frame by frame
(Slow-motion Play)
(DVD, DVD-RW, VIDEO CD only)
Press <1 _ or _ _ when _e system is in
pause mode. To return to the normal playback
speed, press I2:>. Each time you press "_I! _ or
lt_ during S!ow-motion Play, the playback
speed changes. Two speeds are available. With
each press the indication changes as follows:
Playback direction
2_ _ 1D_-
Opposite direction (DVD VIDEO only)
The "2 _"/"2 -_" playback speed is slower
than "1 _"/"i _1."
Playing one frame at a time
(Freeze Frame)
(except for Super Audio CD, CD, and
JPEG)
When the system is in the pause mode, press
®,_/11_ (step) to go to the next frame. Press
_*/_11 (step) to go to the preceding frame
(DVD VIDEOiDVD-RW only)• To return to
nom_al playback, press I::_ _.
