close the oven door and turn off the
controls. If the fire continues, throw
baking soda on the fire. DO NOT PUT
WATER OR FLOUR ON THE FIRE. Flour
may be explosive.
To Broil
Broilingisa quickmethodof cookingfoodsbydirectradiantheatunderthe upperbroilingelement
of the oven. Results and cookingtimes will dependon the distancebetweenthe food and the
element.Tobroil,follow the stepsbelow.
Preheating
Preheatingis suggestedwhen searingrare steaks.Removethe broiler pan and grid before
preheating.Foods placedon the hot metal will stick.Set the oven control.Wait for the upper
elementto becomeredhot, usuallyabout2-3 minutes.Preheating isnot necessary w henbroiling
meatswell done.
Broiling
1.
Remove broiler pan and grid.
2.
Placethe grid on the broiler pan (if it hasbeen disassembled), and then the meat on the
cool broiler grid. Be surethe grid is in placewith the slots down so greasewill drain into
the pan. DO NOT usethe broilerpan without the grid or coverthe grid with aluminum
foil. Theexposed fat couldignite.

Select t he desiredrackpositionand slidethe broiler pan into place.Forraremeats,position
the broilerpan closerto the element(upperposition).Forwell-donefoodssuchaschicken,
lobstertails or thick cutsof meat,positionthe panfurtherfrom the element(lowerposition).
Seechart at left.

Place the broilerpan inthe oven.Leave the door open at the broil stop position,
Thedoor will stayopen in this position.

Push the BROIL pad. '....
andtheword "Broil" will glowin the lowerrightcorner
of the display.
6.
Pushthe Increase ( A ) or Decrease ( Y ) pad until the desiredbroiling aloneness
levelappearsin the display.Thebroiling temperaturecan be set for anyof the six broiling
levels.Refer to the chart belowfor the recommended broiling aloneness s ettings.
Broil times vary, so watch food closely.Time dependson the distancefrom the element,
thicknessand aging of meat,fat contentand doneness preferred. T hefirst side usuallyrequires
a few minuteslongerthan the secondside.Frozen meatsalsorequireadditionaltime. Formore

8. Whencookingisfinished,pushthe CANCEL pad.
