This chapter explains how to configure email and the instances you want the ftServer
Software Availability Manager (SAM) to monitor. It presents the following topics:

Configuring Email
To enable SAM to send email alerts automatically, your server must be running a
MAPI-compliant email client, like Microsoft Outlook You must configure the SAM
service to use an account that has administrative privileges and permissions to the
email profile.
Before you configure email, perform these steps.
1. Right-click My Computer and click Manage.
2. Double-click Services and Applications and then click Services.
3. On the right-hand panel, right-click ftServer Software Availability Manager and
click Properties.
4. Click the Log On tab.
5. Select This account and enter a Windows user account name that has
administrative privileges and permissions to the email client. This name
should be preceded by the network domain name, for instance
NETWORK_DOMAIN_NAME\MyUserName).
6. Type the password for this account in the two boxes provided.
7. Click the General tab and click Stop to stop the service.
8. Click Start to restart the service.
