Configuring Email
Before you can use the SAM email facility, you must configure it. Configuring SAM
email involves two parts: email user setup and email alert setup.
Email user setup establishes a user in whose name SAM sends email. You use
your email program's user profile name, and its related password, for the SAM User
Profile Name and Password values, respectively.
Email alert setup establishes the content of the alert email. Components of the
email alert are:
– Alert Identifier. Either "Default" or a description you provide, like "Disk space
running low" or "CPU usage approaching threshold."
– Email Recipients. The email addresses of persons to receive the alert.
– Subject. The default is " ftServer Software Availability Manager Alert." You may
provide your own heading.
– Alert Message Body. A message that precedes the message that SAM
generates. You can use the default Alert Message Body or provide your own.
– Return to Normal Message Body. A message that precedes the message that
SAM generates. You can use the default Return to Normal Message Body or
your own message.
SAM sends the Return to Normal Message automatically when an instance's
value returns from outside of the threshold value range to normal (within the
range).
– File Attachment (Optional). The path name of a file you want to send with the
email.
– Test Email. Click this button to test whether your email is properly configured.
