Fuel Recommendations
Use automotivegasoline (unleaded or low leadedto minimizecombustion chamber
deposits) w itha minimumof87 octane.Gasoline w ith up to 10%ethanolor 15%
MTBE (Methyl T ertiaryButylEther) canbeused. N everuseanoWgasoline m ixture
or dirty gasoline. A void getting dirt, dust,or waterinthe fuel tank.DO NOT useE85
gasoline.
Refuel i n awell-ventilated areawith the engine stopped.Donotsmokeor
allowflamesor sparks in the area wherethe engineisrefueled or where
gasoline isstored.
Donot overfillthe fuel tank.After refueling, m akesurethe tank capisclosed
properly andsecurely.
Becareful n ot to spillfuel whenrefueling.Spilled fuel or fuelvapormay
ignite.Ifanyfuel isspilled,makesuretheareaisdry before startingthe
engine.
Avoidrepeated or prolongedcontact w ith skinor breathingof vapor.
AddingFuel
Use extreme carewhen handling gasoline. Gasolineisextremelyflammable
and the vaporsare explosive. Neverfuel the machineindoors or while the
engine ishot or running. Extinguishcigarettes, cigars,pipesand other
[sourcesof gnt on.
Alwayskeephandsandfeet clearof equipmentmoving parts. Donot usea
pressurized starting fluid. Vaporsareflammable.

Clean aroundfuel fill before removingcapto fuel.
Afuel levelindicator islocatedinthe fueltank.Filltankuntil fuel reaches t he
fuel levelindictor, Figure 6. Becareful n ot to overfill.

Theengine isshippedwith oil in the engine.Youmust, however, c heck
the oil level prior to operatingthe snowthrower. Runningthe engine
with insufficient o il cancauseseriousengine damageandvoid the engine
warranty.
NOTE: B e sureto check the engineon alevelsurface with the enginestopped.

Remove t he oil filler cap/dipstick andwipethe dipstick clean.SeeFigure 7.

Insertthe cap/dipstick into theoil filler neck,turn thecap1/4turn until fully
seated.
NOTE: Onsomeengines, a threaded cap/dipstick mayexistinsteadofa 1/4
turn capasdescribed a bove.Inthisinstance do not fullytighten the capto
check the oil level.Simply restthe caponthe threads to check for properoil
level.

Remove t he oil filler cap/dipstick. I fthe levelislow,slowlyaddoil untiloil
levelregisters betweenhigh (H)andlow (L),Figure 7. Referto the Engine
Maintenance s ectionforcorrect o il viscosity andengineoil capacity.
NOTE: Donot overfill.Overfillingwithoil mayresultinenginesmoking,hard
startingor sparkplugfouling.

Replace a ndtightencap/dipstick firmly before startingengine.
