    Setting the Reception Mode Setting the Reception Mode The machine has four modes for receiving incoming faxes. Note: SMS messages can be received in any of the reception modes. FAX mode: Select this mode when you only want to receive faxes on your line. The fax machine will automatically answer all calls and receive incoming faxes.

In other countries, you can try changing the setting if you encounter difficulty with the default setting.     2. SMS Text Messaging Your fax machine can be used to send and receive SMS (Short Message Service) text messages. Requirements: To use this feature, you must: ♦ Subscribe to British Telecom SMS service. The telephone number of the British Telecom SMS Center has been preset in the machine. To subscribe, simply send an SMS message and you will be automatically registered for SMS service.

A maximum of 160 characters can be entered in one message. ♦ When sending a message, you can manually enter the full phone number of the recipient, or select the number from your list of auto-dial numbers.

The answering machine is set at the factory to allow each caller a maximum of 4 minutes to leave a message. If desired, you can change this setting to 15, 30, or 60 seconds.

Open the operation panel. Push the green lever at the side of the white roller slightly to the right, and then pull it forward and down.
