safely.
After reading, keep this manual handy for your future reference.
Safety Precautions
The information you need to prevent danger to the user and other people as well as
property damage is described below. "Description of signs" shows different
categories of the degree of danger or damage that may occur due to wrong
handling.
Getting Started
This unit has a built-in Li-Polymer rechargeable battery. Before use, fully charge the
battery by connecting the unit to a computer or universal USB mobile charger
through the provided USB cable.
The red CHG indicator turns on while the battery is charging. The red indicator will
turn off when the battery has fully charged (around 3 hours).
Note
Do not continue charging the battery if it does not reach full charge within the
specified charging time. Overcharging may cause the battery to become hot,
rupture, or ignite.

Description of signs
Indicates that there is a risk of death or serious injury.
Indicates that there is a risk of light injury or property damage.
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or product damage,
Do not expose this unit to rain, moisture, dripping or splashing.
Do not place objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on this unit.
Do not use near bathtubs, washbowls, kitchen sinks, laundry tubs, in a wet
basement, near a swimming pool, or anywhere else that water is present.
Do not expose this unit to excessive heat such as direct sunlight, fire or the like.
Do not storage or use this unit inside cars in hot weather, where it can be
exposed to temperatures in excess of 60°C (115°F).
Do not attempt to charge the battery in temperatures outside the
temperature range of 0°-40°C (32°-104°F).
Do not step on, throw, or drop battery or the power supply or unit, or expose
them to a strong shock.
Do not continue charging the battery if it does not reach full charge within
the specified charging time. Overcharging may cause the battery to become
hot, rupture, or ignite.
Do not short-circuit the battery. Doing so may cause the battery and power
supply to generate heat, rupture, or ignite.
If the battery begins to leak, do not allow the liquid to come in contact with your
skin or eyes.
If contact has been made, wash the affected area with plenty of water and seek
medical attention immediately.
The power supply must be used indoors only. It is neither designed nor
tested for charging outdoors, in recreation vehicles, or on boats.
Do not remove covers.
Use only the recommended accessories. Make no modifications to the
product or accessories. Unauthorized alterations may compromise safety,
regulatory compliance, and system performance, and will void the warranty.
Do not lubricate any part of the unit.
Do not repair this unit by yourself. Refer servicing to qualified service
personnel. Opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous
voltages or other hazards and will void the manufacturer's warranty.
The unit contains small parts that may be a choking hazard and is not
suitable for children under age 3.

Listening to Bluetooth
Music
®
In order to use this unit for music playback or speakerphone functions through
Bluetooth
®
, the unit must first be paired with the Bluetooth
®
device.
Preparation : Pairing

Slide the
Function switch to Bluetooth
®
mode.
You will hear "Power On". After 3 to 4 seconds you will hear "pairing".
The unit will search for Bluetooth
®
devices within range. While in search mode,
the Bluetooth
®
indicator will flash.
Searching will stop when no device is found to be in range within two and a
half minutes, the unit will go to sleep mode.

Following the instructions on your device's user manual, activate Bluetooth
on your device and search for devices.
Once you have found "TOSHIBA TY-SP1", pair to the speaker.
A pass code is not required.

Once connected, you will hear "pairing completed".
The Bluetooth
®
indicator will flash slower than before.

This unit will pair with the last linked device when that device is in range.
Note
Your Bluetooth
®
device (mobile phone, music player, tablet, laptop, etc.) must
support the A2DP Bluetooth
®
profile in order to work wirelessly with this unit.
The A2DP profile is supported by most recent mobile products with built-in
Bluetooth
®
capability. Please refer to your device's user manual for details and
instruction regarding the Bluetooth
®
profiles it supports.
Playing Bluetooth
Music
®

Once your device and this unit are paired, you can start to play music through
this unit using the Bluetooth
®
function.

Press the
Button either on your device or this unit to play your music.

Press the
Button again to pause play; press again to resume playback.

Press the
+/- Button on this unit to Skip the track forward / Backward.

Press and hold the
+/- Button on this unit to adjust the volume level up or
down.
When minimum and maximum volume levels are reached, a "beep" sound will
occur to alert user that min/max level has been reached.

Place the unit on a level surface away from sources of direct sunlight or
excessive heat.
Do not place any flame sources, such as lit candles, on or near the unit.
Do not place the unit on other electrical equipment.
Protect your furniture when placing the unit on a natural wood and
lacquered finish. A cloth or other protective material should be placed
between it and the furniture.
Do not place the unit on high surfaces such as shelves. During music
playback the unit may vibrate and move which could cause the it to shift
and fall off of the edge.
This unit may receive radio interference caused by mobile telephones
during use. If such interference occurs, please increase separation between
this unit and the mobile telephone.

About Using Bluetooth
®
This unit is designed for use with Bluetooth
®
wireless devices compatible with the HFP, HSP,
A2DP and AVRCP streaming audio profiles. Refer to your Bluetooth
®
device's user manual or
technical support to determine if your Bluetooth
®
device supports these profiles.
Frequency band used
This unit uses the 2.4GHz frequency band, however other devices may use this
frequency as well. To avoid interference with other wireless devices, please follow
the cautions listed below.
Certification of this device
This unit conforms to frequency restrictions and has received certification based on
frequency laws, so a wireless permit is not necessary.
However, the following action is punishable by law in some countries:
• Taking apart/modifying the unit.

This unit must be in Bluetooth

mode to pair and use a Bluetooth
®
In order to preserve power, please remember to turn off the unit when not within use.
Listening to other portable audio devices
You can connect an MP3 player or other portable audio device through this unit via
the Line-in Jack.

Plug in the 3.5 mm jack plug into the headphone or line-out jack on your audio
device, and then plug in the mini USB jack into this unit.

Slide the
Function switch on the unit to Line-in mode.
The blue indicator for Line-in mode turns on.

Turn on and play your device.

Adjust the volume level on your audio device.
To preserve power, remember to turn off the unit when not in use.
Making calls with a Bluetooth
Mobile Phone
®
Before the speakerphone feature of this unit can be used, you will need to pair and
link your Bluetooth
®
-enabled phone with this unit.
Please refer to "Preparation : Pairing".
Answer a Call:

To answer a call, press the
Button.
You can then use the unit as a speaker phone.

Speak into the built-in microphone (located right hand side of
press and hold the +/- Button on this unit to adjust the call volume.

To end the call, press the
Dial/Re-dial Dialing:

Once this unit is paired to a Bluetooth
®
mobile phone, you can use the keypad
on your phone to dial a phone number.
Press the
Button to cancel the call.

To redial the last dialed number, press and hold the
Button.

Press and hold the
+/- Button on this unit to adjust the call volume.
Note
Changes to volume settings for phone operation may affect the volume of
other modes on your mobile phone.

To end a call, press the
Button.

Range of use
Use this device within an unobstructed 10 m range. The range of usage or perimeter
may be shortened depending on any obstructions, devices causing interference,
other people in the room, or the construction of the building. Please note that the
range mentioned above is not guaranteed.

This product bears the selective sorting symbol for Waste
Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
This symbol means that this product must be handled pursuant to

Maintenance
To clean this system, wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
Never use alcohol, paint thinner or benzine to clean this system.
Before using chemically treated cloth, read the instructions that came with the
cloth carefully.
