x 1440dpi resolution, advanced ink droplet technology and a newly
developed print head.
EPSON Variable Sized Droplet
Technology (VSDT)
The MicroPiezo ™ print head produces several different sizes
of ink droplet depending on the image type and media used;
controlling the electric pulse applied to the Piezo element.
This new generation of MicroPiezo print head improves this
Variable Sized Droplet function to enable firing of high density
EPSON UltraChrome ™ Ink. This system not only improves image
quality, but also optimises print speed.
Advanced MicroPiezo
The MicroPiezo print head meticulously controls the printing
process, placing virtually invisible EPSON Micro Dots straight on
the media with superb accuracy. The Piezo elements of each
nozzle swiftly change form corresponding to the electronic
signals received. The all new head enables the application of
stronger force directly to the ink to fire more precise ink droplets
on to the media.

Ink Droplet
The innovative MicroPiezo print head of the EPSON STYLUS
PRO 4000 fires a tiny, 3.5 picolitre (pl) ink droplet to achieve
outstanding 2880 x 1440dpi resolution. The small droplet size
and high resolution combine to produce the clean, razor-sharp
images you have come to expect from EPSON. Visible grain is
dramatically reduced and tonal gradation is smoother due to
smaller ultra-micro dots and medium-sized dots, regardless of
the print mode.
