Assembly Tips

1.
Before assembling something with a new bushing,
wipe the bushing with a clean shop towel. This
should remove any debris that might have gotten
into the bushing during shipping and storage
(Figure 97).

Add a drop or two of 30 weight engine oil before
assembly. This will ensure good lubrication upon
start up.
3.
It is important to minimize oil in this area. Too
much oil will be thrown about when running. Oil on
the drive plate or friction wheel will result in drive
slippage.
4.
Wipe the drive plate and friction wheel with
alcohol to make sure they are clean, to prevent
slippage.
5.
Do not use general-purpose grease to lubricate
drive components. In cold temperatures, it will
stiffen and can prevent shifting.

Assembly Steps

1.
Assemble the hub to the front frame using 4
screws.
2.
Install the snap ring onto the pulley and shaft.
Assure the sharp edge of the snap ring faces
towards the pulley (Figure 98).
3.
Install the pulley in the hub and install the drive
plate (left hand thread). Tighten firmly.
4.
Install the front frame into the chassis using two
shoulder bolts. Tighten firmly (Figure 99).
