    2 Safety Information • Make sure to comply with the operating conditions of 10 °C to 40 °C and storage conditions of 2 °C to 30 °C at max. 90% relative humidity. • Extremely high humidity can affect the test results. A relative humidity of more than 90% can cause incorrect readings.
  • Page 12 2 Safety Information If your measured values are regularly outside these limits, consult your doctor. • Dehydration or a lack of water (e.g. from sweating, passing water frequently), low blood pressure, shock or hyperglycaemic hyperosmolar non-ketotic coma (HHNKC) can lead to incorrect readings. If you think you are suffering from dehydration or a lack of water, consult your doctor immediately.

    2 Safety Information 2.3 Instructions for using the GlucoDock blood glucose test strips • Only use GlucoDock test strips together with the GlucoDock blood glucose measuring module. • Store the test strips in their original container. • To avoid contamination, only touch the test strips with clean, dry hands.

    2.4 Instructions on how to use the control solution • Only use MEDISANA control solution. • Only use GlucoDock test strips with the MEDISANA control solution. • Write the opening date on the label of the container. The control solution can be used for approx. three months after opening the container or until the expiry date, whichever comes first.

    2 Safety Information • Shake the bottle with the control solution well before you open it. Wipe away the first drop and use the second one to ensure a good sample for a precise test result. • To ensure the control solution does not get contaminated, wipe away the remaining solution on tip of the container with a clean cloth before closing it again.

    It is not suitable for diagnosing diabetes or for testing the blood glucose of newborn babies. Your blood glucose measuring system GlucoDock from MEDISANA consists of six main parts: the blood glucose measuring module, the lancing device, the lancets, the test strips, the control solution and the VitaDock (app) software.

    Check the date and time settings on your iPod touch, iPhone or iPad. The date and time are important for evaluating the readings. Start the GlucoDock by touching the icon . The display briefly shows the “Vita Dock“ start page and then automatically switches to an entry screen for your personal data.

    5 Operation Preparing and performing a blood glucose test 5.2.1 Using the lancing device The lancing device enables you to hygienically and easily draw a drop of blood for the blood glucose test and it is quick. The lancing device can be set to the sensitivity of your skin.
  • Page 31 5 Operation 1. Wash your hands with soap and warm water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. 2. Open the lancing device by twisting the cap in a clockwise direction and then remove it. 3. Insert the lancet all the way into the cup without twisting it in the lancing device.

    5 Operation WARNING Never use a lancet or a lancing device that belongs to another person. Use a new sterile lancet for each test. Lancets are intended to be used only once. Used test strips and lancets are considered hazardous, biological non- biodegradable waste.
  • Page 34 1. You can activate the GlucoDock’s blood glucose measuring mode in two ways: a) Plug & Play: Insert the GlucoDock module into the Apple device, when switched on. Select the user profile and enter the password, if necessary. The VitaDock app starts automatically in blood glucose measuring mode.

    5 Operation 5.2.5 Using the AST cap It is generally recommended that a blood sample for a blood glucose test performed at home is taken from the finger tip. If you are not able to take a blood sample from your finger tip, you can also take one from another part of the body (Alternate Site Testing = AST), such as the ball of the hand or lower arm using the lancing device.

    5 Operation 5.2.9 Evaluating a test result The GlucoDock blood glucose test strips work based on plasma and are calibrated to easily compare with laboratory test results. The normal average blood glucose reading of an adult without diabetes is between 3.9 and 6.7 mmol/L (70 -120 mg/dL). The blood glucose level of an adult without diabetes two hours after a meal is less than 7.8 mmol/L (140 mg/dL).
