DVD player unit
Symptom
Playback will not start even after a title is
selected.
The viewing restriction level (RATING) can-
not be changed.
The voice or subtitle language selected in
the initial setting is not played.
No message appears on the TV screen after
a key is pressed.
Menu screen messages are not shown in the
desired language.

Remote control operation is not possible.

This product is compatible with the MacroVision type copy
protection. Some discs contain the recording of copy inhibit
signals, and the video may be disturbed when the video of
such discs is recorded onto a VCR and played back.
This product incorporates copyright protection technology that is pro-
tected by method claims of certain U.S. patents and other intellec-
tual property right owned by Macrovision Corporation and other rights
owners. Use of this copyright protection technology must be author-
ized by Macrovision Corporation, and is intended for home and other
limited viewing uses only unless otherwise authorized by Macrovision
Corporation. Reverse engineering or disassembly is prohibited.
Cause
÷ A viewing restriction (RATING) has been set for
the disc.
÷ You have forgotten the viewing restriction (RAT-
ING) password.
÷ The DVD disc being played does not contain the
recording of the selected voice or subtitle lan-
guage.
÷ The function for displaying message on the TV
screen (On-Screen Messages) is set to off.
÷ The menu language function (MENU) is not set.
Cause
÷ Batteries are exhausted.
÷ The remote control is too far away from the
system, the controlling angle is deviated or
there is an obstacle in between.
Cause
÷ Playback is restricted intentionally by the soft-
ware producer.

public or rent a disc without the permission of the copyright
owners.

In case of difficulty

Remedy
÷ Check the viewing restriction level (RATING)
setting.
÷ Set the initial setup to the factory setup with
the following procedure.
1 At the time of Power ON, press the ON/
STANDBY key while keeping the 4
(backskip) key pressed.
2 "BYE" is displayed.
3 Press the ON/STANDBY key to go to
STANDBY mode.
4 When Power ON is performed with the ON/
STANDBY key, the settings become the
default factory settings
÷ Use a DVD disc containing the recording of
the selected voice or subtitle language.
÷ Set On-Screen Messages to on.
÷ Set the disc menu language function (MENU)
as required.
Remedy
÷ Replace with new batteries.
÷ Operate the unit inside the remote control-
lable range.
Remedy
÷ The operation is inhibited. Please try an-
other operation.
