SOFTWARE CORRUPTION PROBLEM

1. Symptom of problem
Software corruption problem occurs when IRD is unplugged while an upgrade of new soft-
ware from satellite is in progress or application program of FLASH is damaged by other
problem. In this case, IRD appear "DOWNLOAD" on VFD and is displayed on message box
of TV or monitor as below [Figure 1-1].
Try power recycle and if this problem persists,
wait for a software download from the satellite,
2. Solution of problem
To solve this problem you must rewrite application on FLASH and make following prepara-
tion.
1) Terminal emulation program transmitted in binary mode. (Ex: Tera Term)
2) 1:1 RS-232C serial cable with male to female connector.
3) Compressed application image of new version (Ex: rom.pak)
First, connect serial port of PC and RS-232 cable and execute terminal emulation program
on PC. In this, Serial port configuration is set to 115200 baud, 8 bit per character, no parity
and 1 stop bit.
And If IRD is plugged in AC, "WAIT" appear and disappear on VFD and "DOWNLOAD" dis-
play and message box on TV or monitor as [Figure 1-1] appear.
In this time, Message as [Figure 1-2] is dumped on PC termal.
