Select how to switch the output from the DVD/VHS common output
terminal on the back of this unit.

Automatic Select this when you want to switch the output
automatically according to the operation or action of
this unit.
≥You can also switch the output by pressing
[DVD / VHS OUTPUT].
Manual
Select this when you want to switch the output
between DVD and VHS manually.
≥The output is switched alternately by pressing
[DVD / VHS OUTPUT].
Power Save
[On] [Off]]

The power consumption is greatly reduced when the
unit is turned off.
≥"FL Display" (l 45) is automatically set to
"Automatic".
≥The power save function is not activated when
either DVD or VHS is in the standby mode.
≥When the unit is off, Pay TV programmes cannot be
watched on the TV because the signal from the
connected decoder is not looped through. To watch
them, turn on the unit.
Off
The power consumption is not reduced when the unit
is turned off.
Language
Choose the language for these menus and the on-screen messages.

Shipping Condition
All the settings except for the ratings level including the password
and time settings return to the factory preset. The timer recording
programmes are also cancelled.

All the settings other than the programmed channels, time settings,
country settings, language settings, disc language settings, rating
level including the password and remote control code return to the
factory presets.

[DVD-V]
Choose the language for audio, subtitle and disc menus.
≥Some discs are designed to start in a certain language despite any
changes made here.
≥If a language which is not recorded is selected, or if languages are
already fixed in the disc, the language set as the default in the disc
will be played instead.
≥In case of English/French/German/Italian/Spanish languages,
when you make download from TV and Country setting of Auto
Setup in plug-in, the language (Soundtrack/Menus) will be the
same and Subtitle will set to "Automatic".

Input a code number with the numeric buttons.

If the language selected for "Soundtrack" is not available,
subtitles of that language will automatically appear if available on
that disc.
Ratings

Follow the on-screen instructions. Enter a 4-digit password with the
numeric buttons when the password screen is shown.
≥Do not forget your password.
Setting ratings (When level 8 is selected)
[8 No Limit]: All DVD-Video can be played.
[1] to [7]:
Prohibits play of DVD-Video with corresponding
ratings recorded on them.
[0 Lock All]: Prohibits play of all DVD-Video.
Changing ratings (When level 0–7 is selected)
[Unlock Recorder] [Change Password]
[Change Level] [Temporary Unlock]
Recording time in EP mode
Select the maximum number of hours for recording in EP mode
(l 24, "Recording modes and approximate recording times in
hours").
[EP (6Hour)] [EP (8Hour)]
EP (6Hour) You can record for 6 hours on an unused 4.7 GB
disc.
EP (8Hour) You can record for 8 hours on an unused 4.7 GB
disc.
≥The sound quality is lowered compared to other recording modes
when using "EP (8Hour)".
DVD-Audio Video mode Playback
Select "On" to play the DVD-Video content on some DVD-Audio.

The setting returns to "Off" when you change the disc
or turn the unit off.
