4. Make sure to align the center of the set
pin a on the shift lever with the align-
ment mark b on the bottom cowling.
5. Adjust the position of the shift cable joint
3 until its hole is aligned with the set pin

The shift cable joint must be screwed in a
minimum of 8.0 mm (0.31 in) c.

6. Install the shift cable joint 3, install the
clip 2, and then tighten the locknut 1.

7. Check the gear shift for smooth operation
and adjust the shift cable length, if nec-
essary, repeat the steps 3–6.
8. Check that the neutral switch 5 is push-
ing by the shift lever 6. (WH)

Checking the ignition timing

1. Start the engine and warm it up for 5 min-
utes.
NOTE:
Turn off the engine when warmed it up com-
pletely.
2. Attach the special service tool 1 to spark
plug wire #1 2.
