16 | Unit maintenance
- Particular attention shall be paid to water
quality as the deposition of contaminants
(iron, lead another corrosion products) in cold
and hot water will cause cavitation.
- When the MAHU is not in use, if the air into
the unit is below 0℃or the coil surrounding
temperature is below 0℃, fresh air valve
shall be closed and drain the water in the
coil, or add antifreezing agent (e.g. Ethylene
glycol) into the pipe to prevent the coil from
frost crack. Drain procedures are as follows:
a. Close inlet pipe valve.
b. Slowly open air bleed valve on outlet pipe.
c. Slowly open water drain valve on inlet pipe.
d. Re-tighten air release valve and water drain
valve after water drained completely.
- When the new MAHU is located in an envi-
ronment with ambient temperature or inlet
temperature ≤2℃, in order to prevent the
coil from frost crack, please maintain a mini-
mum 25% of coil water flow through the coil,
or set preheating device in the unit air inlet
place. In the system, the fresh air inlet shall
be equipped with a closed regulating valve
and antifreezing switch and interlock with
the supply fan.
Electric heater
- Disconnect the power and stop the fan before
carrying out maintenance and inspection on
the electric heater. Direct water washing on
electric heater is prohibited, or otherwise it
may affect electric heater service life and
cause personal injuries.
- Please be careful to burns as electric heater
is still in hot conditions when it is in use or
just stops using.
Drain pan
- Check the drain pan condensate outlet for for-
eign matter jams which may cause poor drain
and leakage.
- The condensate outlet must be equipped with
properly designed hydraulic seal to block the
water. If the hydraulic seal damaged, it may
cause leakage.
• Heat exchanger
- When carrying out maintenance and cleaning
for full heat recovery, please clean dust on full
heat exchanger materials by lightly using the
vacuum cleaner month. Do not use water,
steam and solution to wash full heat ex-
changer materials.
8736862495(2015/07)
- Carry out inspection and maintenance on the
belt and motor of the wheel heat exchanger
in accordance with manufacturer require-
ments.
Electrical equipment
- Regular cleaning of electrical components in
distribution is requested to ensure the normal
operation of the unit. Disconnect the distribu-
tion box power before cleaning, or otherwise it
will cause electric shock and equipment
damage.
- Electrical components are consumable.
When they exceed service life or damage,
please select the original specification for
replacement, otherwise it is prone to cause
fire accidents.
- The distribution box must be inspected by
professionals; otherwise it is prone to cause
equipment damage and personal injuries.
5.2 Storage measures for the unit long-
time shutdown (Over 3 months)
Drain the coil and humidifier.
Manually rotate the vane 10 times or more
every three months, to prevent point fatigue on
the bearing.
Remove all V belts (only for belt-driven fan),
and keep them in safety place to avoid
damage.
Please pay attention to dust and moisture pre-
vention if MAHU is stored in a place with lots of
dust and steam or with high moisture.
When using the MAHU after a long-time shut-
down, measure the fan motor resistance firstly,
and use only after the measured value satis-
fied (If the motor insulation resistance is less
than 1MΩ, carry out drying measures).
Check all components before operation.

5.3 Inspection and maintenance intervals

(If the air handling unit is used under severe
environmental conditions, please reduce the
intervals in the table accordingly)
