Troubleshooting

Error Messages

Follow the instructions below if an error message appears on the display.
Message
AVLS (vol. limit) is On.
Volume cannot be
increased.
Battery too low to update
firmware. Please charge.
Cannot add more than
100 songs per list.
Cannot add to a
Bookmark List currently
playing.
Cannot add when playing
from Trash Bin.
Cannot change sound
settings when audio
output is Line Out.
Cannot change volume
when audio output is Line
Out.
Cannot charge. Charge
5°C – 35°C, 41ºF – 95ºF.
Meaning
The volume exceeds the
maximum volume
allowed by AVLS.
There is not enough
battery remaining to
update the firmware.
The number of tracks
added to a Bookmark List
or the Trash Bin exceeds
the 100 track limit.
You are trying to add
tracks to a Bookmark List
when any track in the
track list is shown with
.
You are trying to add
tracks to the Trash Bin
when any track in the
track list is shown with
.
You tried to change the
"Sound" setting while
"Audio Output" is set to
"Line Out."
You tried to change the
player volume while
"Audio Output" is set to
"Line Out."
You are charging the
player in an ambient
temperature out of the 5
to 35°C (41 to 95ºF)
range.
Corrective action
 Set "AVLS (Vol.
Limit)" to "Off" ( 
page 47).
 Charge the battery
fully, and then update
the firmware.
 Remove unnecessary
tracks from the
Bookmark List or the
Trash Bin (  page 38).
 Start playback of the
track from a genre or
album list, and then add
it to the Bookmark List.
 You can add a track to
the Trash Bin only
when in the stop mode.
 Set "Audio Output" to
"Headphones" ( 
page 49).
 Set "Audio Output" to
"Headphones" ( 
page 49).
 Charge in an ambient
temperature of between
5 and 35°C (41 and
95ºF).
