Safety Information
Proper connection of the PGND cable of the device is a key guarantee for preventing lightning strikes and
interference. You must correctly install the PGND cable when installing and using the device; otherwise, the device
and the peer device may be damaged.
Before touching the device, the interface cards and boards, wear the antistatic wrist strap to prevent the electrostatic
discharge of the human body from damaging the sensitive components. Ensure that the other end of the antistatic wrist
strap is well grounded.
Do not install or remove a power cable. Before installing or removing the power cable, turn off the power switch.

    This document takes the materials in the following table as examples to illustrate the installation process of the EGW2100. For the types of interface cards supported by the EGW2100, refer to the HUAWEI EGW2100 Installation Guide. Interface cards and mapped cables are optional. You can install them according to the actual conditions. The EGW2100 is classified into the EGW2130, EGW2130W, EGW2160, and EGW2160W.
  • Page 4 Installing the Device to a Specified Position The EGW2100 can be directly placed on a clean workbench, or installed in a 19-inch cabinet that complies with the standard of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). When the EGW2100 is installed in the cabinet, a minimum of 100-mm distance is required between the mounting surface of the front columns and the back of the front door.

  • Page 6 Installing Rack-Mounting Ears on Both Sides of the Chassis Align the rack-mounting ear and one side of the chassis. Clockwise fasten the M4 screw. Fixing the Device into the Cabinet The cool wind of the EGW2100 comes in from right and goes out from left. When the EGW2100 is installed in the same cabinet with the device for generating the cool wind coming in from left and going out from right, there should be certain distance between the two devices to avoid circulation of the hot wind.

    Installing PGND Cable Earth connection essential before connecting supply. Loosen the grounding screw. Aim one end of the PGND cable (the ring terminal with an smaller inner diameter) at the grounding hole. Fasten the grounding screw. Connect the other end of the PGND cable (the ring terminal with an larger inner diameter) to the grounding terminal on the cabinet.

    Installing Power Cable The intervals between power cables, PGND cables, and signal cables must be larger than 30 mm. Insert the self-locking fastener to the sideward socket. Plug the other end of the power cable into an Insert the AC power cable into the AC approved 100 VAC to 240 VAC outlet.

    Installing Antennas The WiFi antennas and 3G antennas are installed in the same way. The following takes the 3G antennas as an example to illustrate the process of installing antennas. The WiFi antennas and 3G antennas cannot be misused. The WiFi antenna connectors does not have a protection cap. Step 1 is not needed during the installation of the WiFi antenna.

The following takes the 3G and 1ADSL2+ interface card as an example to illustrate the process of installing signal cables. The following table simply shows the layout and cable mapping of interfaces of each type.
