3.2.
General Descriptions
Following is a brief description of the optional paper feeder board and major electrical component.
3.2.1.
General I/O Circuit
The optional paper feeder has the IC2 (16bit I/O Expander) that is controlled by printer engine. The communication protocol of the
printer engine and IC2 is 4-wired serial method.
The IC2 have 16 bit Bi-directional port (D0-D16), and direction of these ports are detected by logic of DI (IC2). When DI's logic is
low, each port of D01-D16 is output port. When DI's logic is high, each of D01-D16 is input. When direction of port is input, the
status of D01-D16 is output by IC2 (DO).
When SIO_nCS1 is low, the IC2 is active and then can communicate with printer engine in sync with CLK. The general port (D1-
D16) of IC2 is used for detection of paper size, paper jam and paper existence.
