General Information
Specifications
Frequency offset (and 87:3):
P
ointer sequences are generated by
offsetting the frequencies of the AU-4,
AU-3 (in these modes the 87:3
sequence is generated to ITU-T G.783)
or TU-3, TU-2, TU-12, TU-11 and the
line rate relative to each other.
Range: 100 ppm in 0.1 ppm steps.
ITU-T G.783 sequences: Bursts of
periodic single adjustments with added
or canceled adjustments. Polarity is
selectable. Bursts of periodic double
adjustments with pairs alternating in
polarity. In all cases the interval
between adjustments or pairs of
adjustments is programmable.
On starting to run any of the pointer
sequences an initialization sequence
followed by a cool down period may be
run prior to the chosen sequence.
TX Overhead
Regenerator section overhead: All bytes
except B1 can be changed from the
default state using OVERHEAD
SETUP.
Default values:
A1A2 contains pattern F628
(hexadecimal)
J0 is set to "00000001".
Z0 is present in all STM-1's and is a
number between 2 and N which
signifies the order of multiplexing.
B1 is the BIP-8 parity (using even
parity) calculated over the entire
previous frame, after scrambling.
E1, F1, D1-D3, and all other bytes are
all zeros.
Multiplexer section overhead:
STM-0/STM-1, STM-4/STM-16, STM-4c/
STM-16c: All bytes except B2, H1, H2
and H3 can be changed from the default
state using OVERHEAD SETUP.
Default values:
H1/H2 bytes are present in all STM-
1's.The pointer offset value of the
STM-1 under test is determined by the
last setting of New Pointer test feature.
The default value of the SS bits is 10.
H1/H2 bytes in columns 1 and 4 of the
background signals are set to New Data
Flag - disabled, SS Bits - AU-4,
Decimal Pointer Value - 0 i.e.
H1 = 01101000, H2= 00000000.
H1/H2 bytes in columns 2, 3, 5 and 6 of
all STM-1's in the STM-4/STM-16 are
set to the concatenation condition i.e.
H1=10010011, H2=11111111
H3 is transmitted as all zeros except
when used as a payload byte during
negative justification.
B2 is the BIP-24 parity (using even
parity) calculated over the MSOH bytes
and the VC-4 capacity. It is calculated
for each STM-1.
K1,K2, D4-D12, S1, M0, M1, E2, Z1,
Z2 and all other bytes are all zero's.
VC-4 path overhead: All bytes except
B3 can be changed from the default
state using OVERHEAD SETUP.
Default values:
J1 - 64 ASCII Null characters.
B3 is the BIP-8 parity (using even
parity) calculated over the previous
VC-4,before scrambling.
C2 is transmitted as Hexadecimal 12
(140 Mb/s Mapping) or 02 (2 Mb/s &
34 Mb/s Mapping) or FE (VC-4 Bulk
Filled)
H4 is transmitted as all zeros. If TU-2,
TU-11 or TU-12 structured payloads
1-23
