I N TERCO N N ECTIO N S
To construct the system shown in Figure 1 - 2 , interconnect the instrum ents as .

shown in Figure 2-5. The required instruments and cables are listed iri the figure. The
connection procedure is as follows:
Interconnect the 4084A

then tighten the two, thumb screws.
3. Connect each S M U terminal on the rear of the 4145A
terminal on the 1 6 078A. Use the f�rnished triaxial cablesC!).
4. Connect the VM and VS terminals of the 4 1 45A to the VM PORTs and VS PORTs of
the 40S5A with the furnished B N C cablesC!) .
5. Connect the 24-pin Shorting Connector 0) to the System Cable connector of the
41 45A.
6. Interconnect the 40S4A, 4145A, and computer (internal HP-IB interface) with the
furnished H P-IB cablesG).
7. Set the HP-IB Addresses of the 40S4A and 4145A as listed below :
4084A: 2 2
4145A: 17
If other HP-IB addresses are used, or if an HP-I B interface card is used instead of the
computer's internal HP-IB interface, the furnished software m ust be m odified, as
described in paragraph 3-32.
