This m anual contains the information required to install, operate and maintain the
Hewlett-Packard M odel 4085M Switching Matrix. It was written under the assumption
that the reader has sufficient knowledge of the HP M odel 4145A Semiconductor
Parameter Analyzer and the HP M odel 9 8 1 6 or 9836 Desktop Computer." If you're not
familiar with the 4 1 45 A and at least one of these computers, you should read the manuals
furnished with the 4145A and the com puter before proceeding any further.

Section I, General Inform ation, gives a detailed description of the 4085M, and
covers specifications, instrument identification, options,
accessories, and other basic information. Section 1I, Installation, contains the instructions
and procedur" e s for unpacking, installing, and verifying the 4085M. Section
provides all the information necessary to operate the 4085 M . Included are panel features,
basic operating theory, instructions on how to connect test samples, and detailed
programm ing inform ation. Section IV, Diagnostics and Maintenance, contains information·
about the diagnostics program , DIAG, and outlines m aintenance requirements and
procedures.
