Otherwise, you will be injured by the electric shock caused by the current flow. Wear an electrostatic discharge (ESD) gloves or wrist strap and antistatic clothing when performing operations on the device.
  • Page 3 2.VCN520/VCN540 At-a-Glance Huawei VCN520/VCN540 is integrated intelligent video surveillance products that provide a wide range of services including live video viewing, video retrieval, video playback, alarm linkage, pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) control, voice intercom, and electronic map. Huawei VCN520/VCN540 delivers secure, efficient, and purpose-built video surveillance solutions for government agencies, transportation departments, educational institutions, and enterprises of all sizes.

    Note: The VCN520 or VCN540 has two USB interfaces: USB2.0 and USB3.0 interfaces. Both USB interfaces can connect to USB flash drives and USB mice. However, the USB3.0 can connect to removable hard disks while the USB2.0 cannot.

    After the VCN520 or VCN540 is delivered to the site, disk filler panels are installed in slots where disks are not installed, by default. You are not advised to remove the filler panels from the slots where disks are not installed, because removing the filler panels will affect the heat dissipation of fans and generate some noises.

    5.3 Cabinet Installation Note: Before installing the VCN520 or VCN540 in the cabinet, install the mapping guide rail to bear the device. If a guide rail has been installed in the cabinet, check whether the guide rail matches the device. The device is equipped with right-to-left airflow. Therefore, check whether the guide rail may block the air exhaust vent.
  • Page 7 Install the filler panel of the guide rail. Install the M6 screws used to fix the filler panel of the guide rail, as shown in the following figure. Install the floating nuts used to fix the VCN520/VCN540. The floating nuts are installed in the first and sixth holes along the guide rail from bottom to up.
  • Page 8 When multiple VCN520s or VCN540s are deployed, a guide rail needs to be installed for each device. A VCN520 or VCN540 requires 2 U space. A guide rail requires 1 U space. Therefore, installing a single device requires a total of 3 U space. Before installing devices, properly plan the cabinet space.

    To use the alarm linkage function, connect the LDU to an alarm input device and an alarm output device. Huawei VCN520/VCN540 is not delivered with peripheral devices, users can purchase these peripheral devices as required.
  • Page 10 Note: If users do not need to externally connect alarm input or output devices temporarily, it is recom- mended that the Phoenix connectors be inserted into the alarm input and output ports to pre- vent Phoenix connector losses. Insert one end of the power cable to the power supply interface of the device and the other end to the power outlet.

    7.1 Powering on VCN520 Turn on the power switch of VCN520, as shown in the following figure. After the device is powered on, you can check the indicator status on the front panel of the device to know the device running status and determine whether each system module is running properly.
