Checking the Oil Level
Note: Check the oil when the engine is cold.
1. Disengage the PTO, move the motion control
levers to the neutral locked position and set
the parking brake.
2. Stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for
all moving parts to stop before leaving the
operating position.
3. Clean around the oil dipstick (Figure 39) so
dirt cannot fall into the filler hole and damage
the engine.
4. Pull the oil dipstick and wipe the metal end
clean (Figure 39).
5. Slide the oil dipstick fully into the filler tube.
Pull the dipstick out and look at the metal end
(Figure 39). If oil level is low, slowly pour only
enough oil into the filler tube to raise the level
to the full mark.
Important: Do not overfill the crankcase
with oil because this may cause engine
damage. Do not run the engine with oil
below the low mark because the engine
may be damaged as a result.

Changing the Oil
1. Start the engine and let it run five minutes.
This warms the oil so it drains better.
2. Park the machine so that the drain side is
slightly lower than the opposite side to assure
the oil drains completely.
3. Disengage the PTO, move the motion control
levers to the neutral locked position and set
the parking brake.
3. Metal end
4. Stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for
all moving parts to stop before leaving the
operating position.
5. Place a pan below the oil drain. Rotate the oil
drain valve to allow oil to drain (Figure 40).

6. When the oil has drained completely, close the
drain valve.
Note: Dispose of the used oil at a certified
recycling center.
7. Slowly pour approximately 80% of the
specified oil into the filler cap (Figure 39).
8. Check the oil level; refer to Checking the Oil
Level.
9. Slowly add additional oil to bring it to the Full
mark.
Changing the Oil Filter
Replace the oil filter every 200 operating hours
thereafter.
Note: Change the oil filter more frequently when
operating conditions are extremely dusty or sandy.
1. Drain the oil from the engine; refer to
Changing the Engine Oil.
2. Remove the old filter and wipe the filter
adapter gasket surface (Figure 41).
