6.1 Dismantling the chain brake

WARNING!
Exercise care to ensure the spring
does not fly out and cause personal
injury. Wear protective goggles.

Loosen the bar nuts and remove the clutch cover,
guide bar and saw chain. See figure 1.

Use a heat gun to loosen the thread lock on the
mounting screw. Unscrew the mounting screw
for the handle, using an Allen key and a socket
wrench. Remove the screw and release the handle.

Release the tension in the brake spring by press-
ing down the lever. See figure 2b.
