Reinstalling Windows Me and Windows 98

NOTICE:
The Operating System CD provides options for reinstalling your
Windows Me or Windows 98 Second Edition (SE) operating system. The
options can potentially overwrite files installed by Dell and possibly affect
programs installed on your hard drive. Therefore, Dell does not recommend
that you reinstall your operating system unless instructed to do so by a Dell
technical support representative.
NOTICE:
To prevent conflicts with Windows Me or Windows 98, you must
disable any virus protection software installed on your system before you
reinstall Windows.
Turn on the computer, and enter the system setup program as directed
1
by a Dell technical support representative.
In the system setup program Boot menu, change the boot sequence so
2
that the CD or DVD drive boots first as directed by a Dell technical
support representative. Then place the Operating System CD in the
CD or DVD drive and close the drive tray.
Exit the system setup program.
3
At the Welcome window, click OK.
4
Double-click Refresh Windows OS.
5
Click OK.
6
Click OK again.
7
Remove the Operating System CD from the CD or DVD drive, and
8
click OK to restart your computer.
The Getting ready to run Windows for the first time window appears.
If the mouse tutorial starts, press <Esc> to exit and then press <y>.
9
Click the regional setting closest to where you live, and then click
10
Next.
Click the graphic that matches your keyboard layout, and then click
11
Next.
