SAFETY INFORMATION
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE
IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE, TAKE THE FOLLOWING STEPS TO PREVENT
WARNING
INJURY AND FIRE SPREADING
Do not use wat er on grease fires. Never pick up a flaming pan.
Turn t he cont rols off. Smot her a flaming pan on a surface unit
by covering t he pan complet ely wit h a well- fit t ing lid, cookie
sheet or flat t ray. Use a mult i- purpose dry chemical or foam-
t ype fire ext inguisher.
• If t here is a fire in t he oven during baking, smot her t he
fire by closing t he oven door and t urning t he oven off or
by using a mult i- purpose dry chemical or foam- t ype fire

COOKTOP SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Never leave t he surface unit s unat t ended wit h t he cookt op
ON. Boilovers cause smoking and greasy spillovers t hat
may cat ch on fire.
• Always be present at t he range when cooking wit h oil or
grease. Surface cooking is an "at t ended" act ivit y.
• Never leave oil unat t ended while frying. If allowed t o heat
beyond it s smoking point , oil may ignit e result ing in fire t hat may
spread t o surrounding cabinet s. Use a deep fat t hermomet er
whenever possible t o monit or oil t emperat ure.
• To avoid oil spillover and fire, use a minimum amount of oil
when shallow pan- frying and avoid cooking frozen foods
wit h excessive amount s of ice.
• Use proper pan size—select cookware having flat bot t oms
large enough t o cover t he surface heat ing element . The
use of undersized cookware will expose a port ion of t he
surface unit t o direct cont act and may result in ignit ion of
clot hing. Proper relat ionship of cookware t o surface unit
will also improve efficiency.

Use care when t ouching t he cookt op. The glass surface of
t he cookt op will ret ain heat aft er t he cont rols have been
t urned off.
• Do not cook on a broken cookt op. If glass cookt op should
break, cleaning solut ions and spillovers may penet rat e t he
broken cookt op and creat e a risk of elect ric shock. Cont act a
qualified t echnician immediat ely.
• Avoid scrat ching t he glass cookt op. The cookt op can be
scrat ched wit h it ems such as knives, sharp inst rument s,
rings or ot her jewelry, and rivet s on clot hing.
• Do not place or st ore it ems t hat can melt or cat ch fire on
t he glass cookt op, even when it is not being used. If t he
cookt op is inadvert ent ly t urned on, t hey may ignit e. Heat

off and wait for t he fire t o go out . Do not force t he door
open. Int roduct ion of fresh air at self- clean t emperat ures
may lead t o a burst of flame from t he oven, Failure t o
follow t his inst ruct ion may result in severe burns.
• Only cert ain t ypes of glass, glass/ ceramic, eart henware or
ot her glazed cont ainers are suit able for cookt op service;
ot hers may break because of t he sudden change in
t emperat ure.
• To minimize t he possibilit y of burns, ignit ion of flammable
mat erials and spillage, t he handle of a cont ainer should be
t urned t oward t he cent er of t he range wit hout ext ending
over nearby surface unit s.
• When preparing flaming foods under a hood, t urn t he fan
on.
• If power is lost t o an elect ric cookt op while a surface unit
is ON, t he surface unit will t urn back on as soon as power
is rest ored. In t he event of power loss, failure t o t urn
all surface unit knobs t o t he OFF posit ion may result in
ignit ion of it ems on or near t he cookt op, leading t o serious
injury or deat h.

• Use ceramic cookt op cleaner and a non- scrat ch cleaning
pad t o clean t he cookt op. Wait unt il t he cookt op cools
and t he indicat or light goes out before cleaning. A wet
sponge or clot h on a hot surface can cause st eam burns.
Some cleaners can produce noxious fumes if applied t o
a hot surface. NOTE: Sugar spills are an except ion. They
should be scraped off while st ill hot using an oven mit t and
a scraper. See t he Cleaning t he glass cookt op sect ion for
det ailed inst ruct ions.
• Read and follow all inst ruct ions and warnings on t he
cleaning cream label.
