Many potential "problems" can be resolved by the owner with-
out calling a service technician. If something seems to be
wrong with this product, check the following before calling
your authorised SHARP dealer or service centre.
The unit does not turn on.
" Is the AC adaptor disconnected?
" Is the built-in battery exhausted?
" Is the unit in the hold mode?
" Has condensation formed inside the unit?
" Is the unit being influenced by mechanical shock or by
static electricity?
" Is the BATTERY switch set to OFF?
" Did you long press the MENU or ENTER button?
No sound is heard from the earphones.
" Is the volume set too low?
" Are the earphones correctly plugged in?
When the operation buttons are pressed, the unit does
not respond.
" Is there playable audio data on the unit?
" Is the unit in the hold mode?
" Is the built-in battery exhausted?
" Is the unit connected to a PC with the USB cable?
" Is the BATTERY switch set to OFF?
Sound skipping or loss.
" Does the built-in battery need to be recharged?
" Is the unit being subjected to excessive vibrations?
The battery runs out faster and does not hold its
charge.
" The built-in battery may be dead. You may need to re-
place it. (See page 8.)

The operation is unstable whilst the PC and the unit are
connected.
" Are you using the USB cable that was purchased sep-
arately?
" Is the unit correctly connected to the PC? (See pages
11, 12.)
"Charging." does not appear.
" Is the AC adaptor or USB cable properly connected?
" Is temperature extremely high or low?
The USB connection display does not appear.
" Is the battery being charged?
" Is the unit correctly connected to the PC? (See pages
11, 12.)
Information (title, artist, album, genre) does not appear.
" Refresh the audio data (See page 22).
" Does the audio data contain any information? (See
page 15.)
" Does the "MUSIC" folder contain audio data with infor-
mation? (See page 16.)
