Safety when connecting up

Safety notices
When connecting up the device, keep to the safety notices listed below.
Note
Strain relief for the Ethernet cables
In order to avoid mechanical stress on the Ethernet cables and resulting interruption of the
contact, fasten the cables at a short distance from the connector using a cable guide or
busbar.
Safety notices for operation with a power supply according to NEC Class 2
Operate the device with a power supply according to NEC Class 2. When connecting up the
device, keep to the safety notices listed below.
Power supply
The device is designed for operation with a directly connectable safety extra low voltage
(SELV) from a limited power source (LPS).
The power supply therefore needs to meet at least one of the following conditions:
• Only safety extra low voltage (SELV) with limited power source (LPS) complying with IEC
• The power supply unit for the device must meet NEC Class 2 according to the National
If the equipment is connected to a redundant power supply (two separate power supplies),
both must meet these requirements.
Insulation of external power supplies
Ext. circuits intended to be connected to this device shall be galv. separated from hazardous
live voltage by reinforced or double insulation.
